Manufacturing

We use several different methods of manufacturing across our aerospace fastener lines — head forging, CNC machining, centerless grinding, and thread rolling.

Precision Inspection

Cold and hot head forging methods are used to manufacture our wide variety of standard and oversize fasteners — including the Hi-Lok™ and Hi-Tigue™ lines. Cold and hot heading and secondary operations finish the fastener blank.

Heading Machine

Our heading machines perform precision cold and hot forming operations to create the fastener head profiles required for aerospace applications.

Thread Rolling

Hot and cold thread rolling is done using the two-die reciprocating method, and Reed thread rollers are used for larger diameters. These finishing methods produce the precise thread profiles needed for high-strength applications.

Quality Assurance

Our commitment to quality and excellence enables us to meet our customers' most critical requirements. Each lot of fasteners is subject to rigorous acceptance tests including physical tests for tensile, shear and fatigue.

Calibration Standards

Standards for verifying and calibrating our production gauges are carefully monitored by our calibration department. We use precision instruments — including laser micrometers and optical comparators — that are themselves calibrated to NIST-traceable references.

Metallurgical Analysis

Finished parts are sectioned, mounted in bakelite and then polished to a flat scratch-free finish. After being etched with acid, these mounts are examined under high-power microscopes to verify grain structure and material properties.

We conduct X-ray verification tests on each incoming shipment of raw material to confirm chemistry and integrity before any production run begins.
